Watch For His Coming

“But take heed to yourselves, lest your hearts be weighed down with carousing, drunkeness, and cares of this life, and that Day come on you unexpectedly. For it will come as a snare on all those who dwell on the face of the whole earth. Watch therefore, and pray always that you may be counted worthy to escape all these things that will come to pass, and to stand before the Son of Man.” Luke 21:34-36

These impacting words of warning from Jesus should make us all concerned about what, and even more, to whom He is addressing it to. Now this message is for you, and for me: “Take heed, be careful.” Lest your hearts be weighed down. There is a party spirit in the world today. Not only because it is New Years eve that is approaching, but because the world’s human spirit is to do whatever it pleases. We must be careful that we will not be caught up in it, and that “Day”of the Lord catch anyone of us by surprise. We must be careful of these things Jesus warns us, and know with certainty that they will be like a trap for men. “Carousing, drunkeness, and the cares of this life” The deceitfulness of riches, the decandent lifestyle’s of the wealthy and all those who want to imitate them, all the evil works of drugs, and the those who smuggle and sell them, so that Day come upon you unaware. So shall it come upon all of them that dwell upon the face of the whole earth. Watch therefore,The Lord’s command to His church to watch, He is calling for us to scrutinize our lives in order to change them. We are not to just note the problems we are facing, but to overcome them. Pray always—First, that you may be counted worthy to escape all these things. All what things? These things of God’s judgment that will be coming to pass upon the earth as there will be signs and the sun and the moon and the stars and the heavens will be  shaken, and the earthquakes and the pestilences and the famines… “pray that you will be accounted worthy to escape all of these things.”

“And to stand before the Son of Man”—-In the Book of Revelation, chapter 5, John saw a scroll in the right hand of Him who was sitting upon the throne, sealed with seven seals, and it had writing both within and without. “And he heard an angel proclaim with a loud voice, ‘Who is worthy to take the scroll and loose the seals?’ ” And when no one was found worthy in heaven or earth, John began to weep convulsively until the elders said, “Don’t weep,  Behold, the Lion of the Tribe of Judah hath prevailed to take the scroll and loose the seals.” And I turned and I saw Him as a Lamb that had been slain, and He took the scroll out of the right hand of Him who sat upon the throne. And when He did, the twenty-four elders came forth with their golden vials full of incense, which are the prayers of the saints. And they sang a new song, saying: “You are worthy to take the scroll, and to open its seals; For You were slain, and have redeem us to God by Your blood. Out of every tribe and tongue and people and nation, and have made us kings and priests to our God; and we shall reign on the earth.”Rev.5:1-10

Prayers of the saints—Specifically, these prayers represent all that the redeemed have ever prayed concerning ultimate and final redemption.

Beloved friend, It is my prayer and anticipation that I will be accounted worthy to be standing with the company of God’s redeemed saints in heaven one day, singing of the worthiness of the Lamb to take the title deed to the earth, and to lay claim to it. I want all of us to be standing before the Son of Man. For I surely don’t want anyone I know of to be left down here on this earth when God’s judgment wrath is poured out, as Jesus has described only a portion of it here, but you can read the full description of it in Revelation chapter 6 through 18. Doesn’t it make sense rather to take heed to Jesus’ warning to us? And to watch and pray!

May the Lord bless your walk, and New Year!
