A Kingdom That Cannot Be Shaken

See that you do not refuse Him who speaks. For if they did not escape who refused Him who spoke on earth, much more shall we not escape if we turn away from Him who speaks from heaven, whose voice then shook the earth; but now He has promised, saying “Yet once more I shake not only the earth, but also heaven.” Now this, “Yet once more,” indicates the removal of those things that are being shaken, as of things that are made, that the things which cannot be shaken may remain. Therefore, since we are receiving a kingdom which cannot be shaken, let us have grace, by which we may serve God acceptably with reverence and godly fear. For our God is a consuming fire.Hebrews 12:25-29

We all began in a different kingdom than the Lord’s. We were under the powerful influence of spiritual darkness, and we existed in a realm devoid of true love. Then, our great God rescued us,  But you are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, His own special people, that you may proclaim the praises of Him who called you out of darkness into His marvelous light; who were once not a people but are now the people of God, who had not obtained mercy but now have obtained mercy (1 Peter 2:9-10). Our lives were once built on the sand of our own human wisdom and strength, and the ugly realities of sin and its consequences. Now we belong to a kingdom that cannot be shaken” of which we all who have believed the promises of God, have entered in by grace. And we stand in this same grace today. When our circumstances change, we need not be shaken, our King of glory and His grace are constantly availiable to us. “Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, today, and forever” (Hebrews 13:8).

But as many as received Him, to them He gave the right to become children of God, to those who believe in His name: who were born, not of blood, nor of the will of the flesh, nor of the will of man, but of God. And the Word became flesh and dwelt among us, and we beheld His glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father, full of grace and truth (John 1:12-14). When we received Jesus Christ as our Lord and Savior, the full resources of His kingdom riches of grace, mercy, and love became our abundant portions forever. God has blessed us with every spiritual blessing in the heavenly places in Christ (Ephesians 1:3), and yet, in a most profound sense, we are still receiving it. “We are receiving a kingdom which cannot be shaken.” And now by relying upon His grace this how we serve God acceptably.

Let us have grace, by which we may serve God acceptably—We are called serve our King. We cannot serve Him by merely attempting to do the best we can, that would be our relying upon the law of perfomance energized by our flesh, we need grace as our empowering source. To live and serve in grace allows our service to flow forth acceptably as worship unto the Lord, because it shows  ” reverence and godly fear.” We must treat God’s Word and it’s message of warning of coming judgment (Hebrews 11:7)  with great respect and awe. Letting our faith be expressed in obedience.

Beloved friend, You may be thinking, “What does this have to do with the Christmas season were in?” If God is shaking things in your life, listen to His Word. We can no longer afford to ignore His voice on the matters pertaining to this temporary earth. But rather, let us together by taking heed discover the things in our life that cannot be shaken, things that pertain to His kingdom living, relying completely on His ever sufficient grace. And you and I will have the most profoundly Christ centered Christmas experience that will change the way we look at things, not from the commercial superficial cost of everything, but rather from a deep love and mercy and grace of Christ, our gift from the heart of the Father!

May the Lord bless your walk with Him today!
